History

Our beginnings

Embarcadero was founded in 2013 with the aim of bringing the attractive universe of international Private Equity closer to Spanish investors.

Since then, we have worked with leading international alternative investment fund managers in the placement of their products, not only in Private Equity but also in Infrastructure, Private Debt and Real Estate. Our efforts have been supported by the majority of Spanish institutional investors, who to date have committed nearly €1.5 billion to alternative funds introduced by us.

We have also advised on Private Equity secondary transactions totaling more than €1 billion, working closely with both buyers and sellers, and assisting in the restructuring of the investor base of two Spanish Private Equity managers.

New challenges

In 2019, we took a strategic step forward with the establishment of Embarcadero Capital SGEIC, S.A., with the objective of managing funds under Spanish regulation in partnership with some of the world’s leading international asset managers. The first vehicle launched was Embarcadero Pantheon Co-Inversión Global FCR, which reached a size of EUR 103 million, consolidating itself as a successful programme and marking a milestone in our alternative investment platform.

Following this initial fund, the platform expanded with new vehicles designed to provide our clients with access to opportunities in Private Equity, Infrastructure and Private Debt. In this context, Embarcadero Pantheon Secundarios Global SCR, with a size of EUR 40 million, and Embarcadero Private Equity Premium SCR, with a size of EUR 50 million, were launched.

The success of the initial programme enabled us to launch the second generation of our co-investment strategy, maintaining a focus on companies based in the United States and Europe, alongside specialist managers in each sector with whom we invest. This second generation is structured through annual Private Equity Investment Companies (Sociedades de Capital Riesgo – SCR), as well as through a Private Equity Fund (Fondo de Capital Riesgo – FCR).
